HITZ students introduction to working at Molson

June 8, 2022

Students and teaching staff from the Bristol Bears Community Foundation and Bath Rugby Foundation HITZ programmes donned steel capped boots, Hi-Viz jackets, hard hats and spent time this week, visiting the Molson Group Avonmouth facility. They were given a guided introduction to key areas of the business, and also met recent HITZ “graduates”, who successfully completed the programme and were subsequently taken on as apprentices by Molson Group.

Nick George, HITZ Officer Bristol Bears Community Foundation, commented: “Molson Group provided our HITZ students with a great opportunity to gain experience of a thriving workplace whilst learning about the values that have helped Molson grow from strength to strength. The team not only made everyone feel welcome, but their deep industry knowledge and expertise ensured that the visit was meaningful for everyone involved. The ‘icing on the cake’ was listening to the former HITZ students, now Molson apprentices, talk about their roles within Molson and how they have developed in self-confidence and skills. We are very much looking forward to deepening our working relationship.”

Robin Powell, group Managing Director of Molson Group, commented: “We were delighted to host the HITZ students and share an insight into our industry leading standards. It was great to hear our current HITZ apprentices to talk about how they’ve gained hands-on experience and are working towards recognised qualifications, evidencing a clear pathway into meaningful employment, which was really inspirational for the new cohort.”

He added: “We are pleased to continue our ongoing support of the HITZ programme and look forward to providing further opportunities to engage positively within the Molson Group, our suppliers, and customers.”

HITZ is Premiership Rugby’s flagship education and employment programme, working with over 2,000 14-to-23-year-olds across England every year. Molson Group is committed to supporting the programme and helps the students navigate the pathway from education into meaningful employment, social inclusion, and financial independence.
