Kobelco has always been a pioneer. In 1930, as a division of Kobe Steel, Ltd., they produced the first piece of construction machinery to be manufactured in Japan: the 50K electric mining shovel. To ensure a rapid response to changing needs, Kobelco Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. became an independent subsidiary of Kobe Steel in 1999.
