Sennebogen Electric Drive from Molson – Driving the Fight Against Climate Change

Climate change is no longer just a quirky scientific theory that is up for debate. It is a very real fact of life. Just ask the people being flooded from their homes in Spain, or whose communities are being ripped apart by hurricanes in the Caribbean and the American South.
According to the World Meteorological Organization, 2024 is on course to be the hottest year on record. The global temperature rise is expected to breach the 1.5°C target of the Paris Agreement for the first time, with the UN warning that this could reach an increase of more than 3°C by the end of the century if more is not done to mitigate the effect of greenhouse gasses.
With the UK’s non-road machinery responsible for emitting 2.7% of the country’s emissions, construction, demolition, recycling and scrap handling all have a role to play – and Molson is here to support you at every stage. Molson is committed to decarbonising heavy equipment of all sizes and applications, as discussed at a recent industry event hosted by the company at its flagship Avonmouth service centre.
Of course, this is nothing new. Molson has been collaborating with our suppliers, such as Sennebogen, for more than a decade. Together, we’ve been working hard to design and deliver electric powered vehicles, facilitating the change to alternative fuel use in all the industries we serve.
Switching to electric plant and machinery with Molson not only brings many environmental benefits, with significantly reduced emissions, there are also financial benefits too. For example, Sennebogen estimates that their latest electric drive: EGreen can cut operating costs by as much as 50%.
Electric machines also offer further savings, with lower service and maintenance costs and extended lifespans for electric machines compared with their traditional diesel powered counterparts. Electric machinery not only delivers greatly increased whole-of-life value for money, but also retains that value for longer when it comes to trading in to upgrade your fleet.
Molson are much more than just a machinery supplier when it comes to the climate fight, as Molson Group Commercial Director, Henry Moore, explains:
“Molson Group are working hard to support the transition to greener, cleaner equipment,” he said. “Our extensive customer base allows us to collect and analyse data on the performance and costs of electric equipment in the field. We feed this back to manufacturers like Sennebogen, so they can fine tune their designs and specifications based on real-life, on-site performance.
“This unique collaboration ensures that electric machines deliver exactly what our customers need, without compromise, so there are no excuses for not making the change and supporting the drive towards net zero.”
As a result of the collaboration between Molson and the manufacturers, customers can now choose electric options on a wide range of machines from leading suppliers. Around half of the Sennebogen machines listed on the website have an electric motor option, with alternative fuel options also available from many other manufacturers.
A brand-new duel-fuel hydrogen powered Kobelco excavator was unveiled at the Avonmouth meeting, as part of the Element 1 project, one of two exciting new machines from Kobelco that offer a real alternative to fossil fuels.
To find out more about how Molson can help your company transition to alternative energy sources like electric and hydrogen power, talk to the team today. We’ll show you how changing your fleet can not only help to save the planet, but can also save on your operating costs too, creating a genuine win-win scenario.
Climate change may be very real, but so are the solutions. In partnership with Molson, you can play your part in this urgent action with the very best environmentally friendly equipment on the market.
