If you had any doubts as to the genuine threat of climate change, then the sobering statistics recently released for 2024 should more than convince you. The stark facts show that it’s never been more important to promote sustainability across your business than it is right now.

Worrying New Records

2024 saw climate records broken across the globe. Mauna Loa research station in Hawaii recorded the highest ever annual increase in CO2. Atmospheric CO2 is now 51% higher than it was in pre-industrial times, at 424.61 parts per million (ppm), and scientists estimate that it has not been this high for over 2million years.

Last year was also the warmest year on record, for both air and sea temperatures, and the first year to exceed the 1.5°C temperature target of the 2015 Paris agreement. While other factors, such as El Nino, may have played a part in the extreme weather events seen across the world in 2024, the effect of climate change cannot be denied.

This is why Molson takes sustainability seriously, both across our product range and throughout our business.

Environmentally Friendly Equipment

Molson are working with leading manufacturers, such as Sennebogen, to develop the latest sustainable technology, including electric and hydrogen powered machines. Sennebogen are leading the way on environmentally friendly plant, offering electric drive technology options for many years. This means Molson can offer diesel-free heavy equipment solutions across their range.

We’re also working with customers to ensure that we deliver this equipment in the most practical way possible. Our goal is to enable you to integrate sustainable technology seamlessly into your operations, without compromising on performance. Using innovations such as those developed by Sennebogen, Molson can provide tethered electric machines, as well as fully independent, battery powered equipment, with a solution to suit every situation.

Sustainability Begins At Home

Naturally, we wouldn’t expect our customers to be making changes that we aren’t prepared to make ourselves, and so Molson is leading by example at both our head office and our 16 depots across the country. As you’ll see in our Social Values Policy, we’ve installed over 500m2 of solar panels, along with a biomass boiler, in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint. We’re also upgrading all our facilities to accommodate the switch to electric equipment, and make sure we are ready for the hydrogen powered engines of the future.

To maximise these efforts, we’ve engaged the services of a leading sustainability consultancy, who will review our operations and recommend further steps we can take to reduce our environmental impact.

We’re All In This Together

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the climate challenge, and to think that what you do on your site makes little difference to the global picture. But we all have a part to play. Every company has contributed to the problem down the years, and every company now has the opportunity to contribute to the solution.

Every little helps, as the supermarket says, and Dr Hausfather, a climate scientist at the Berkeley Earth research group explains why: “It’s not like 1.49°C is fine, and 1.51°C is the apocalypse,” he says. “Every tenth of a degree matters.”

The Molson team have become experts in supplying sustainable plant and equipment, from Kobelco mini excavators to massive Sennebogen port handlers. We are committed to shaping a sustainable future for our industry that supports both commercial and environmental growth.

To find out more, contact Molson today and see how easily, and cost-effectively, you can incorporate a more sustainable approach into your business. Whether you need eco-friendly equipment for an individual project, or you’re looking to implement a company-wide sustainability strategy, Molson has the equipment and the expertise you need.
