Sennebogen is Growing Fast

July 29, 2024

Here at Molson, we’ve always been impressed by the capability of the Sennebogen range to ‘move big things’ as their website slogan says. Our wide range of more than sixty Sennebogen machines covers everything from scrap handlers to port handlers, timber handlers to high reach demolition. Each unit combines power and performance, versatility and precision, to increase productivity wherever these distinctive green machines are deployed.

So naturally, when it came to a construction project for their own company, Sennebogen had everything they needed right there in house.

Reaching higher

Sennebogen’s success in delivering exactly the machines the industry needs has led to deserved success for the German company. Their workforce has grown by ten percent year on year for the last seven years, and the company now has more than 2,200 employees worldwide. And with a constant flow of exciting new machines on offer, that growth shows no sign of slowing down.

While this has been great news for the company, it has made life hard for workers at their Straubing Harbour site, with parking spaces harder and harder to find. After two lateral expansions, the plant was rapidly running out of space to expand any further. The only way was up.

Raising the roof

This month, Sennebogen began work on creating a multi-storey car park at the Straubing site. This will create over 400 new parking spaces – more than enough even for a company growing as fast as Sennebogen.

After groundworks were completed in June, construction began in earnest last month, using the powerful Sennebogen 5500 crawler crane. With a lifting capacity of 200tonnes, the 5500 is making light work of the vast steel beams and pre-cast concrete sections of the new structure. The new car parking facility is scheduled to start providing spaces for Sennebogen’s ever growing team by November and you can read more about it and see an artist’s impression of the stylish new structure here.

Switching on electric

While the Sennebogen 5500 crawler crane used for the new facility features a 283kW diesel engine, much of Sennebogen’s recent success has been powered by the introduction of environmentally friendly electric engines. As we discussed in a recent blog, Sennebogen are at the forefront of the crucial shift towards electric drive machines, and Molson are pleased to be playing our part by bringing these innovations to the UK market.

Electric drive options are available on many of the leading Sennebogen machines in the Molson range, from the compact 817E waste handler to the versatile 850E mobile and 850R crawler scrap handlers. Many of the larger machines include the option of battery power packs or direct cable feeds.

Deserved success

“Sennebogen’s consistent growth does not surprise me,” commented Molson Recycling Sales Director, Thomas McKeever. “The Sennebogen range are some of our most popular machines. By combining trusted traditional German engineering with innovative, customer centred technology, they have become market leaders in the demanding field of materials handling.

“By leading the way in electrification, with cleaner, greener machines across the range, Sennebogen look set to stay at the cutting edge of the industry and remain firmly at the top of the wish list for materials handling companies across the UK.

“As the main UK suppliers for the hugely successful Sennebogen range, Molson may soon need to increase the size of its own staff car park!”
