Assistant Management Accountant – Avonmouth

Reports to: Head of Management Accounts

Type of position: Full-time

Hours: 40 Hours Per Week

You will be reporting to the Head of Management Accounts, providing support to the wider Finance team, assisting with the Month-End process and developing your skill set with a view to progress within the business.

You will be a proactive and enthusiastic individual, working within a busy and supportive Finance team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of month-end results
  • Preparation of bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Participation in the planning and execution of the annual statutory audit
  • Assist with company tax matters, including VAT
  • Improve processes & financial controls
  • Provide support and assistance to the wider Finance team
  • Assist in company-wide process improvement projects
  • Maintenance of HP and Fixed Asset Register
  • Ad-hoc request

Skill and Experience

  • You will ideally have experience working within a similar role (Graduates and School leavers will be considered)
  • Experience in month-end accounts preparation
  • Industry experience is desirable, but not essential
  • Studying, or intending to study, towards professional Accounting qualification
  • Report writing
  • The ideal candidate would have experience in a multi-ledger organisation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A can-do attitude and real flexibility to change and adapt to the day-to-day requirements
  • Ability to build relationships and rapport with stakeholders
  • An enquiring mind and ability to think broadly around a problem
  • Good planning and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines
  • Good judgement and commercial awareness
  • Strong team player

Education Requirements:

  • Good general level of Education including English and Maths
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Excel
