A BIG Christmas Clear Out to Help Out

With the festive season fast approaching, there was no better time to spread the Christmas spirit in true Molson Community Champion style. This year, our team of Champion Elves encouraged our team across all 16 of our depots to have a clear out at home, donating unwanted items for good causes.
Christmas is a time for giving, and the local Molson teams have certainly ticked that box. They’ve given up their time to have a good pre-Christmas clear out at home, generously donating everything they didn’t need to worthy causes, including:
Bristol Port
A a business we have a deep working relationship with, Bristol Port asked for our help to provide warm clothes for mariners who arrive in Bristol from warmer climates, such as the Philippines – often not prepared for our colder weather. So, from the donations, we’ve been able to supply boxes of hats, coats and jumpers to the Seafarers Centre at Royal Portbury Dock.
St Peter’s Hospice
This charity supports people with progressive life-limiting illnesses, throughout Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, either in their own homes or through its hospices. And thanks to a huge response to our call for donations, we’ve been able to give St. Peter’s Hospice more than 15 boxes full of clothes, blankets, books and toys.
St Rocko’s Hospice
Based in Warrington, St Rocko’s provides specialist care to people with a life-limiting illness and their families – and it’s a charity close to the hearts of many Molson team members. We heard they were desperate for toys, clothes and pet goods so stepped in, delivering donations to their door. Along with the promise to form a partnership with them in the future.
Glasgow No 1 Baby & Family Support Service
This group provides support to people struggling to make ends meet, providing them with items to make life a little bit easier. The Molson team came across the charity and decided to help. Since then, Glasgow No 1 Baby & Family Support Service has supported more than 2,000 children by donating clothes, dolls and soft toys, and contributing to the Give a Kid a Christmas campaign.
Pets at Christmas
The festive spirit even spread to our four-legged friends, with several donations received such as animal beds and pet food. Keen to get these donations into the right hands in plenty of time for Christmas, the team in Warrington and Darlington spoke with their contacts at Warrington Animal Welfare and Darlington Greyhound Trust, who were very happy to make sure the items got into safe paws.
Operation Elf
With donations of our time being equally important, for members of the Molson team keen to use their paid annual volunteering day, our Community Champions organised for teammates to join the British Heart Foundation at their retail stores. With Christmas being their busiest time of year, our volunteers didn’t hesitate to get stuck into building furniture and arranging stock displays.
Keeping Stata’s Sleigh Safe
Our teams around the country have gone above and beyond to support these great causes – and many more. Whilst our Stone depot has even become the official parking space for Santa’s Sleigh. We have been storing it for the local Rotary Club, with our team giving up their time on evenings and weekends to let Santa and his helpers in and out of the building as they bring the Christmas spirit to houses in the area and raise money for local causes.
Thank you to all who took part in this great work. By taking time to get involved, the Christmas spirit meter has been filled to the brim and it’s shaping up to be a Merry Molson Christmas and a happy 2024 for many more people in our communities.
